SALVATION

There is not a word for word sinners prayer in the Bible, but there are Biblical principles that point to what should be included in that prayer.

1. Acknowlege that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself.

Romans 3:23
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

2. Acknowlege that Jesus paid the price for your sin.

Romans 5:8
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

3. Come to Jesus by faith and ask Him to save you.

Romans 10:9-10,13
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Acts 16:30-31
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Here’s a Suggested Prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to make me a new creation and to prepare me to dwell in your presence forever. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life.”

**Prayer does not save you….faith in what Jesus did on the cross saves you. Prayer simply expresses that faith. Therefore it would be a mistake to find some recited prayer and think that repeating those words has some magical saving power….it is faith alone that saves us.

One Response to SALVATION

Hi, Jotta A is unbelievable!! if thats a fallen little child singing..then what is heaven going to be like…Awesome and full of dancing !!
Regards the salvation prayer…can you please explain to me where in scripture it shows you how YOU can know for certain that your faith is REAL and not just wishful thinking that after death there has to be more. I cannot find (apart from it seems) the gift of tongues any other sign that your faith is REAL and not just a leopard changing his spots in the face of conscience. I believe i am a believer but my struggle with sin and the flesh is causing me great doubt that even if it is all true…i am not “in Christ” as scripture seems clear that if you say you are in Christ but continue in unrepentant sin that you are not truly “converted”…can you help?

    please reply to rbrtndrsn47@googlemail.com…thanks.
