Life today is very difficult, especially during these tough economic times. But the real question is, are you on the right path? A lot of people come to a crossroad in their lives, and have to make a decision to choose which path to take. Some paths are straight and clean and look so easy. Other paths look small and crooked and look very difficult to take because of the rocky conditions and look like impossible to take. It is so easy to just take the easy route. This path looks so easy and promising with little or no challenge. This path is the path that Satan wants us to take. He paints us a pretty picture, but Satan is a master of deception and he wraps his temptations in glittering tinsel, but beneath the tensile is a terrible reality. The reality of sin and poison consequences. Satan likes to confuse people that he doesn’t exist, but he is real and very powerful. If you follow his path it will only lead to our disaster. Make sure you take the right path. It may seem hard and impossible, but if you have Faith in God, He will help guide you through the rough times, no matter how hard it is. Whether it is pain or great difficulty or whatever crisis you are going through, God loves you and He will be there for you.The bible says, “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” Proverbs 4:14-15,19 KJV Don’t just follow the easy path because others do. Just the temptations alone are enough to try you, but put your trust in God. Don’t turn your back on Jesus Christ and go down the wicked path. even though it may seem easier, stop Satan from controlling your life. Instead put your life into Christ‘s hand, and let Him take control of your life. Because the wicked path of Satan will only lead to your life’s destruction and death. The bible says, “Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.” Exodus 23:1,7 KJV In other words, don’t follow the evil crowd because they will never reach the promise land and will never receive God’s fullest blessings. It is not to late to get on the right path. Anytime you are on this path you will always struggle, but if you have Faith it will get you through. your life will change for the better and you will have something to look forward to. Life is always a challenge, but if you leave it into God’s hand you will travel the good path a lot better. The bible says, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phillippians 3:13-14 KJV  So don’t be deceived by the pleasures of the moment or fight the temptations on your own. Don’t be misled down the wrong path by simply following after the wrong crowd by peer pressure. Turn to Christ, and put your Faith in Him, and then nothing but good will happen. You will be more realistic in your choices and about what path you will take. The bible says, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 KJV So why not put your trust and Faith in Jesus Christ your Savior and ask for repentance before you get cut off forever from God and from eternal happiness.

What The Bible Says About The Events:

It was ten years ago on September 11, 2001 when the smoke smoldered for months from the wreckage of the collapse of the New York World Trade Center Towers as a result of the most unbelievable terrorist attack any nation has ever witnessed. Over 3,000 people were killed in one day. The United States of America was dealt a horrific blow as foreign terrorists hi-jacked four American commercial airliners, ramming two of them into the Twin Towers and another into the Pentagon. One crashed into the country side, with its mission overthrown by brave passengers, who we found out later rose up against their aggressors and prevented another planned act of destruction. Our nation and many others who have joined the coalition against terrorism are declaring these deeds must be stopped throughout the world.  Our nation has declared war on terrorism.  The whole world is still reeling from this evil plot. Our nation has been shaken to its foundation and hearts and lives have been shattered.  Children are left without their parents, husbands and wives have lost their mates, friends are gone and  terror has gripped our hearts, as we experienced a brutal act of barbarism in demonic proportions not known in this nation until now. As many as 10,000 widows and orphans are grieving for their loved ones. God’s heart is also grieved over the loss and pain of so many.  He never wanted this to happen. Those who sought the Lord for comfort in their hour of need found it, as He promises never to leave us or forsake us. People did not know what to do or who to trust. As Christians, we knew that we could only trust in God and therefore many backsliders starting seeking Him again. Hundreds were questioning about what does all this mean.  Also asking questions about what the Bible has to say about the end times.  We certainly do not feel we have all the answers to this enormous tragedy, as it is really beyond human comprehension; however, we feel we should contribute some spiritual insight to help bring some understanding about how such evil murderous acts could have happened in our nation. After seeking the Lord, we do want to share with our Internet family some of the things the Lord is speaking to us on this major crisis on the anniversary of this event. We believe that God will bring good from what the devil meant for evil. Many well-meaning Christians are voicing their opinions. With so many personal ideas being voiced, much confusion and error are being disseminated.  I would admonish those in the body of Christ who feel they should share a word or teaching with others that they make sure they are being a spokesman of the Lord, and not just sharing their opinions so they might be heard. He wants us each to know when to share, what to share, and where to share, when we are given a revelation or teaching from God. The Bible says, “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” James 3:1 KJV

Wake Up Call:

The conclusion in the events of September 11th were a wake-up call from the devil. If you were sleeping in your home and a robber broke into it and vandalized and attacked you, you would have to say the robber woke you up. However, if you had an alarm system that went off, you would say that the alarm system woke you up. Satan is described in Scripture as a thief. The Bible says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 KJV  The way God wakes us up is by speaking to us through His Word and by His Holy Spirit.  He also uses his preachers and prophets to warn us. He sounds an alarm!  When we fail to repent and hear His Words of warning, we leave our houses unprotected and the enemy is able to break in and do His evil work. God is never the author of evil and destruction. He comes to bring us life and blessing. However, to receive it, we must choose life and obey His Word. We have been warned that if we force God out of our homes, schools, businesses, and government, it will allow the enemy to come in and wreak havoc in our lives. God wants us to turn to Him before we experience any destruction, not be driven to Him through the destruction that comes as a result of us disobeying Him. The Bible says, “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” Ephesians 5:14-18 KJV  We are warned in this scripture to “wake up” and be filled with the spirit so that we can understand what the will of God is. Because the Lord is merciful God, He does bring good out of evil, but He never instigates the evil. Satan does that. Because there have been many prayers for our nation, God is bringing good from this evil, and we are praising Him for that. Thank God for the unity, prayer meetings, and the many “God Bless America” signs that we see.  This is certainly a change of heart in our nation.   However, if we had heeded His warnings and simply turned back to Him in true repentance, we would have never had to suffer such a blow to our nation.  God tried to prevent this kind of thing from happening by speaking to His people to pray, to witness, to obey, to give, to repent and to change. It was God’s grace that a worse thing did not come upon us.  Our national sins and the sins of the church caused our promised protection to fail us, according to His Word.

Who is The Blame:

Who is to blame for the evil that came upon our nation? Is it God? Is it the devil? Is it the evil men who did the deeds? Is it all the sinners in this nation who are homosexuals, abortionists, adulterers, murderers, pornographers, and God haters? Or is it the church who has fallen into apostasy and failed to be the light and salt God called us to be? First of all, we must understand according to the Bible, God is not to blame for this evil. He is not evil and cannot do evil things. The Bible says, “Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.” Job 34:10-12 KJV  The Lord warns us in scripture not to attribute evil things to Him. This is the spirit of error according to the New Testament. It says, “Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” James 1:16-20 KJV  Definitely, the evil men who became suicide bombers are to blame, as well as the devil who motivated these men and gave them their evil plans of destruction. Certainly all sin brings a penalty with it, so sinners who do not know Christ are responsible too, as we all reap what we sow.  All who are sinners share in the blame.  However, I believe the greatest weight of blame must be placed on uncommitted Christians who serve themselves more than God

Were The Towers in New York Babylon:

“Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.” Revelation 18:6-10,17-19 KJV  The Book of Revelation is a coded book and was written for Christians so that only they could understand it.  Those who do not have the Holy Spirit are bewildered by its imagery. Even as Christians we have difficulty when approaching Revelation. How do we understand its code? The Bible interprets itself, so we can understand Revelation by looking at other portions of the Bible for clues to its interpretation. When we study one part of the Bible, we can find the same truth in another part that sheds light on what we are studying. Since Revelation is a coded book, we will not understand it without the help of God’s Spirit who inspired it. We must have a child-like approach to His Word.  We must have God’s Spirit and an understanding of the Scriptures to comprehend Revelation. Revelation was written symbolically; a great deal of it is not literal. If we do not understand that Revelation is speaking of spiritual things, then we are going to misinterpret it. We will end up looking for literal things and miss what God is saying to the church. First of all, I do not believe that New York City nor the United States is “Babylon,” in this passage of Scripture, is a symbol of the evil system representing the kingdoms of this world that are in opposition to the kingdom of God. According to the scripture, allof the nations have “drunk of her wine.” No one city or nation can alone be responsible for corrupting the earth or martyring all the saints of God; and certainly not the United States. Babylon is a system that has been on the earth throughout all of history. It is empowered through various nations, governments, philosophies, and religions–as well as through individuals. However, since the World Trade Centers housed multitudes of international corporate headquarters, it certainly could symbolically represent the world monetary system. The love of money is a snare to all that are in the world. Most of the people in the world are seeking after the things of this world. It makes no difference whether they are rich or poor; the poor want the things of this world too, but simply do not know how to get it.  This beast system has everyone seeking the wrong god. They are buying so they can sell, and selling so they can buy. The stock market and the whole monetary system is filled with that. Those who have placed their trust in that system are marked with the beast.  That is, they think like the devil, who is the ultimate beast. As Christians, we buy and sell too. But we are not buying and selling our souls like the rest of the world. “We are in the world, but we are not of the world”. We touch and handle the things of this world, but it is not in our hearts; it is not a part of us.  We are not marked with the system. As totally dedicated Christians, when God asks us to do anything, we lay everything down, leaving it behind as we go and do what He has asked.  We are able to forsake all because we are not marked with the mark of the beast; we are not caught up in the love of money. We are not caught up in the buying and selling because we know our true riches are in heaven. In Revelation it says, “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Revelation 17:5 KJV  Who is this woman? She is the beast system of the world, the fallen system that commits abominations. Certainly the many things that went on in the World Trade Towers were ungodly transactions that deserved judgment. However, I do not believe that the city of New York fulfills this prophecy.   I believe that any city or nation that practices evil and indulges in greed and lust would be a part of the Spiritual Babylon the Bible speaks of.  This would include all the cities down through history of which many of them also fell. The original Babylon fell and was destroyed and remains a type throughout history. However, we cannot overlook the fact that the World Trade Center Towers could certainly be a type and warning to us as a nation that our money and pride has reached into the heavens and it is now brought down by our own sins. In the Old Testament there was another tower that God did not approve of — it was the Tower of Babel.   This is how Babylon got its name. Nimrod and the men who were building this tower had the wrong motives for doing it; therefore, the Lord confounded their languages so that the work was not completed and the men were scattered abroad on the face of the earth.


God in his love is calling America back to himself — if we ignore this warning something far worse will happen. What the terrorists meant for evil, God wishes to use it for good, to draw people, the nation and the world to Himself. If we do not heed his whispers, then he has to shout to us in our pains. If we continue to serve our idols then the death of over 3,000 people will have been in vain. We should each seek to discern what the Lord is saying to us individually and as a country, especially those in leadership need to hear God’s voice. A classic prayer of petition and confession to God for his country is that of Daniel in Dan 9:1-20. In it he confesses his own sin and that of his own people, we would do well to follow his example. There is a tension here, because we are to come out of Babylon and yet still be in the world and minister to it. Americans think only about America, get a passport and visit the third world, then you might see the roots of the hatred against America, and also understand the great good that the church can do to fulfill the Great Commission and relieve poverty. The Bible says, “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Romans 12:19,13:4, 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV  No one  is going to expect this anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to be as emotionally charged as the first. But that will change when they began reading the names of those who had died at the World Trade Center. The readers were the sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews of the victims. The 2,792 names, precious to those who read them, brought a fresh reminder of those they had loved and lost. A person’s name represents his identity, accomplishments, and relationships. Someday our name may appear on a memorial plaque or gravestone as a mark of remembrance and honor. But there is a heavenly ledger that is the most important of all. When Jesus’ followers reported their successful service to Him, He replied, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20 KJV  “Then He thanked the Father for making the way to Him simple enough for even a child to understand ” A child values a loving relationship. In that spirit, we should rejoice that through faith in Christ we belong to God and are secure in His love for all eternity. Our names are precious to Him.

“And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”

Exodus 32:31-33 KJV

Sealed with the Holy Spirit:

At the moment of our salvation when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, three most amazing things will happen. The first thing that will occur is that we will get automatic forgiveness for all our sins – all past, present, and future sins that we will ever commit. The second thing that will occur is that we will get to go straight to heaven when we die and cross over because we have now become saved and born again. However, there is a third major thing that will occur that some Christians do not have a full understanding on. At the exact moment that we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and have become saved and born again, we also instantaneously receive the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit Himself! The Bible tells us that both God and Jesus live in heaven. However, when we become saved and born again, we literally get to receive the Holy Spirit Himself. He literally, and I mean literally, comes to live on the inside of us. Our bodies have now become the temple of the Holy Spirit because He is now living on the inside of us. And not only does the Holy Spirit come to live on the inside of us as a result of accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, but the Bible also tells us that we have now become “sealed” with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says,“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV  To think that God the Father would allow the third Person of His Godhead, the Holy Spirit, to come down and literally enter in on the inside of us where our bodies have now become the temple of His Spirit is something that is truly awesome.

The Book of Life:

The Book of Life is the book in which appears the name of every person who is born. In the beginning of creation, the Bible says God made the heavens and the earth in six days. And on the sixth day God made Adam and Eve. In the Bible it says, “This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;” Genesis 5:1 KJV  In the process of time, Adam and Eve had fallen from their sinless state into the natural realm of sin which they had chosen. When Adam sinned, he lost everything that was given to him in the garden, provision, protection, and God’s presence. But not only did Adam lose himself, he lost his posterity to the sinful nature that he created. When Adam was created, God wrote it in a book called the Book of Life. The Bible says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12 KJV  When Adam sinned, we all sinned, even though we weren’t born yet. All of humanity came from Adam. So when Adam sinned he was blotted out of the Book of Life, but so were we. It says in the Bible, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.” Exodus 32:33 KJV  God made man after his image and likeness, but when Adam sinned he lost that image and likeness.

The Lambs Book of Life:

The Lamb’s Book of Life is the book in which appears the name of every person who has been born again, spiritually speaking, who has been saved through the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ. Every one was in the Book of Life in the beginning, but not every one was written in the Lambs Book of Life. The Lambs Book of Life is a book of those who were predestinated in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world. The Bible says, “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27 KJV  Being written back into the Book of Life through the new birth, and continuing therein unto the end of our lives or until Christ returns, also confirms that we are written in the Lambs Book of Life.

Blotting out of The Book of Life:

If a person dies as a believer his name is retained in the book of life, if he dies unsaved he is blotted out. The Bible says, “Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.” Psalms 69:28 KJV  The righteous are those who obeyed by having faith in the gospel. All of humanity came from Adam. So when Adam sinned he was blotted out of the Book of Life, but so were we. The Bible also says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 KJV  Since one must be written in the Book of Life to go to heaven, and in the absence of testimony from the bible of a name being written in the Book of Life other than at Creation, and in view of the finality of written in once and blotted out once, and since God is not willing that any perish and since He has made provision for all men who stand condemned at conception to simply believe and have eternal life, and since all men during their physical lifetimes must thus have the opportunity to be saved, then all men must be written in the Book of Life, before conception probably at the creation of the world.

Lose Your Salvation:

Once saved, always saved? Can a Christian lose their salvation after they have truly accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior? There is major divided opinion in the Body of Christ now on this question. Many believe that you cannot lose your salvation, no matter how many bad things you may end up doing in this life. The Bible says that we are “sealed” with the Holy Spirit at the moment of our salvation with the Lord and that nothing can break this seal, no matter how many bad and evil sins a person may commit after getting saved. I believe there are several verses in Scripture that really do answer this question. I believe the seal we have with the Holy Spirit is a very strong and powerful seal. These passages do not teach that one can lose his salvation through disbelief or apostasy. These verses refer to a hypothetical situation whereby the author stresses what would happen to a saved person if he could fall away.The author does not believe one can lose his salvation. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.” Hebrews 6:4-8 KJV  These next verses will demonstrate the folly of some specific sins that might make a person fall away. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 KJV  It is the work of God that transforms one from darkness to light, from death to life, from a child of the Devil to a son of God. It is a completed, regenerating work, “You are saved,” or “You have been saved and stand saved.”



To summarize, every one has his name written in the “Book of life”. The wicked will have their names blotted out of this book. The righteous, the born-again believers, have their names written in the Book of Life and in the Lamb’s Book, and thy will never have their names blotted out of either one. The Lord Jesus Christ wants every believer to overcome the world by living a faithful Christian life until He returns or until death. He promises special rewards for the Christian who overcomes.Those rewards include a special fullness of life alluded to in the understatement, “He who overcomes … I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life.”  All believers have, and will forever have, life. Only overcoming believers have, and will forever have, life more abundantly. In the Bible it says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15 KJV  The Lord is coming back for a people that’s written. “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Daniel 12:1 KJV

  Navy Seal Hell Week is 5.5 days of continuous training without any sleep will probably make any man cry! But when “you gotta be a SEAL, you gotta go through Hell Week!” The training takes place at the Coronado Naval Amphibious Base in San Diego, California. The training is so tough that on the first day of the Hell Week, the instructor makes it a point to tell the recruits one thing: “If you quit now you could go get a room at one of those luxury hotels down the beach and do nothing but sleep for an entire day!” In fact, Navy SEAL instructors keep repeating the fact that recruits can use the “Drop-On-Request” (DOR) at any time during the training.According to a Navy SEALs instructor, the Hell Week in the BUD/S training is not about physical strength, but about mental strength. The training requires 90% mental and only 10% physical strength and capability to endure. There are times when recruits feel that their feet are too cold or sore or they are too wet or too tired to carry on and it is at these times when only their mind carries them forward. The Hell Week is 132 hours of continuous physical labor and mental fatigue. All hell breaks loose on the 3rd week of First Phase of BUD/S training, which includes less than 4 hours of sleep. Hell Week has been initiated to test the limits of a recruit’s mental toughness, physical endurance, tolerance towards cold and pain, attitude, teamwork, and ability to perform under high physical as well as mental stress under sleep deprived conditions. The Hell Week training is also a test of determination and desire, which questions their desire to be a Navy SEAL? According to statistics, only 25% of the SEAL recruits make it out of Hell Week, giving it the reputation of being one of the toughest training on the planet. The Hell Week training requires recruits to be constantly in motion, whether they are running, paddling, swimming, carrying their boats on their heads, logging PT’s, doing push-ups, slogging through mud, rolling in the sand, paddling their boats or conducting surf passage. The most common drills include recruits standing soaking wet on the beach, standing in freezing cold water up to their waist, completely covered in mud except the eyes and still be ready for their next challenge. Cuts, bruises, and burns are common, but the SEAL has to learn to think beyond the pain. In such situations they have to think, lead, and make sound decisions. When the recruits are the most tired, when they are suffering from sleep deprivation, when they are closer to hypothermia and hallucination – that is the time when they should also be able to operate functionally. This is what makes the Navy SEAL different from any of the other US Military or world force! Nothing is done at a walking pace while mud and sand will get everywhere causing severe chafing and open sores that together with the cold reduce athletic candidates to shambling men as they struggle to keep their body moving. Hell Week is about breaking the will of candidates by applying stress in the form of cold, fatigue, being wet, physical exhaustion, sleep deprivation, a lot of yelling coupled with offering incentives to quit. Allya gotta do is ring that bell and you can get a room in that hotel we just ran past and sleep all day! “The Quit Option.” The bell in question is located high up on a platform visible to the entire camp and all a candidate need do to stop the pain and torture is signify he wants a Drop On Request or DOR by simply stepping up and ringing the bell. As Christians we live in a culture where the option to quit is ever-present. If problems are piling up or things just don’t seem to be going the way you envisioned, don’t worry you can always just quit. If you aren’t doing as well as you would like in a difficult class, you can drop the class. If you don’t like the way things are going at work, quit. If you are putting on more weight than you would like, you can just stop worrying about what you eat and buy bigger pants. You may not work in a ‘Christian environment,’ but if you stick it out at your job, someone might just hear the gospel. And that is really what is constantly at stake in our lives as Christians isn’t it? We are constantly faced with the challenge of displaying the gospel in everything we do. Are you displaying the gospel at home, at school, at work, and at church? Probably not if you are quitting everything you start. Don’t let Satan break your mind. You will have to walk the spiritual walk and take everything that they throw at you. Don’t use “The Quit Option.”  Do as Paul did as he ministered throughout the cities. He was beaten, stoned, thrown in jail and much more. But he kept spreading God’s word and kept faithful to Him. It says in the Bible, “Serving the LORD with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:19,24 KJV  Paul never used “The Quit Option.” He went through so much as it is described here in the Bible, “Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.” 2 Corinthians 11:24-28 KJV  You could almost say Paul was a Navy Seal ! Don’t let the pressure build on you and let Satan get the best of you. You just have to tell your spirit you’re not going to quit. Jesus didn’t quit on the cross. All He had to do was say He had enough and the Angels would have come down and got Him and saved Him from the pain. But Jesus endured all the pain for us and took it upon Himself to die on the cross and pay for our sins.  He didn’t use “The Quit Option.” The Bible says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:2-3 KJV  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we all can be victorious in our everyday lives. We can overcome the devil and our flesh. We can be ministers of peace and reconciliation on this earth, and walk in perfect communion with God. We can be free from pressure by learning to yield to the Lord and resisting the devil. The Bible says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 KJV  How do we resist the devil? By speaking the word of the Lord over our situation. For example, if we are being pressured with fearful thoughts, we should quote scriptures that speak of victory over fear. Just as the Bible says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV  What in your life are you constantly tempted to quit on? The option to quit is always there but what does that say about you? Don’t quit. Jesus didn’t. Some people who say they’ll serve Christ are quick to leave when trouble comes. In Jesus’ parable of the soils, He pictured the various responses that people have to the gospel. For example, a person may seem to accept God’s truth, but he stumbles in his faith when difficulties arise. The Bible says, “But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.” Matthew 13:20-21 KJV  Such troubles test the sincerity of one’s faith and expose the weakness of one’s commitment to Christ. But someone may say, “Shouldn’t our Lord tell us up front what is involved in following Him?” He does. He appeals to us with one invitation: “Trust Me.” If we let trouble or disillusionment shake our faith, we are breaking the spirit of the trust that brought us to Christ in the first place. Father, when life brings us the unexpected and we feel like quitting, help us to be faithful to You. And don’t let me ring “The Quit Option” Bell. So why not today open up your heart to Jesus Christ because He is the One that died on the cross and shed His blood for your sins so you could have that free gift of eternal life. Amen

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

The definition of temptation is an act that looks appealing to an individual. It is usually used to describe acts with negative connotations and as such, tends to lead a person to regret such actions, for various reasons: legal, social, psychological (including feeling guilt), health, economic, etc. Temptation also describes the coaxing or inducing a person into committing such an act, by manipulation or otherwise of curiosity, desire or fear of loss.
Temptation is as old as mankind, beginning in the Garden of Eden. When Satan tempted Eve to do what God had forbidden, he appealed to her reasoning. God wants us to succeed and prevail over temptation, but Satan, God’s sworn enemy, longs to devour us. The Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV  When Adam and Eve gave in to temptation in the Garden, and not obeying God as He desired, they yielded control of this physical world to Satan. His goal in our lives is two-fold: first, he wants to take us with him to hell. If he loses that battle because we become Christians, his goal is then to make us ineffective for God in this world. He uses temptation to carry out his purposes. The very essence and meaning of sin is to miss the mark, and this is accomplished through giving in to temptation. Sometimes we can confuse temptation with God’s testing of our hearts, but temptation and God’s testing are very different. Most of the time, though, what we’re experiencing is both. God’s testing presents the opportunity to do that which would please Him. At the time we are experiencing it, we may not be able to distinguish the difference between testing and temptation. Temptation can occur on many levels. We may be tempted to eat something we shouldn’t for health reasons, we may be trapped in a harmful pattern of thinking, or dangerously involved in a lifestyle that is harmful. In all cases, temptation is rarely a one-time event. Tests may occur more than once in similar ways, but temptation is almost always cyclical. In the Bible it discusses the process of being tempted, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.” James 1:12-16 KJV  The Spirit’s role in this is not to directly tempt Jesus, for God cannot tempt any man, but rather, to lead Jesus to the situation where Satan would provide the temptations. Why was Jesus tempted? While Jesus was God, He was also man. Jesus hungered as a man, thirsted as a man, suffered as a man, and ultimately died as a man. He was also tempted as a man, yet without sin. The Bible says, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15 KJV  This was necessary so that He could become a merciful High Priest. It says in the Bible, “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17 KJV  This is where Jesus was tempted at in the Bible, “Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” Matthew 4:1-11 KJV  When fighting temptation, society’s solutions revolve around personal stamina and will-power. However as worthwhile as this may seem, the chances of success are minimal, due to the focus being on natural ability.The Bible Tell’s us clearly, the battle is not natural, but spiritual, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:12-13 KJV  As an example to us, Jesus used the weapon of God’s Word in resisting temptations as it said in Matthew 4.  Since He is the only human who has ever been tempted, yet did not sin, His example is a good one to follow. God knows how to provide a way to both get through temptation, and overcome temptation. Everybody faces temptation, even Jesus did. But how do we face temptation? Answer temptation with truth from God’s Word.  See it as an opportunity to make God and His Word real in your life.  So why not today open your heart to Jesus Christ because He is the One that died on the cross and shed His blood and paid the penalty for your sins so you could have the free gift of eternal life. Amen
